INTRODUCTION:

• This manual contains component equipment descriptions, start-up procedures
  and maintenance information for the Master Controller and Motion Limit Control
  Systems for the Model 204M Mining Shovel. These systems are programmable
  controller (“PC”) based digital control systems. They have been designed for
  accuracy and dependability. Use of the PC provides extremely flexible management
  of control/warning devices and enhances diagnostics capabilities for easy
  maintenance. Each system is designed to assist the operator in being the most
  productive with the SuperFront geometry. All control features performed by
  the system are covered in the following pages.
• Knowing when and how to readjust or make changes in each system is simply a
  matter of becoming familiar with the programs, how the hardware works and
  what the system limitations are. This section is intended to provide that
  knowledge.
• Keep in mind that each system is basically a small computer that
  communicates to the outside world through input and output hardware signal
  conditioners (1/0 Racks and Cards). All system hardware and software allows
  the flexibility of custom modifications based on customer preference, with no
  hardware changes in most cases.
