Case IH Tractor McCormick A-193 AV-193 Tractor Plows for Super A_AV Tractor Operator’s Manual_1006638R6
TO THE OWNER :
- The.A~193 and AY-193 Direct-Connected Holdboard Plows are used with the Parnell Super-A and Super~AV Tractors equipped with Hydraulic Touch Control. The AV-193 plow is the same as the Arlss with the exception of two parts, the hitch adjusting link and the pickup chain.
- These parts are a few inches longer on the AV—193 plow. ‘ This machine is ideally suited to the farmer with small acreage. It will work close to the fences and plow out the corners and do this without the back-breaking strains of hand lift levers.
- All adjustment for depth and lifting at the ends of the field are accomplished from the driver’s seat by means of the two Touch Control levers. One lever serves to raise and lower the plow, and the other to adjust the – depth. Instant and positive depth control enables the driver to plow any hard and soft spots in the field to a uniform depth.
- The plow is hitched to the tractor through a resilient cushion hitch. This assures protection for the machine when obstructions are encountered in the field. Plowing at an average depth and using a 16′ bottom, 5-1/2 acres in a 10-hour day may be covered in most soils.
- Bottom equipment available includes 12″, 14″ and 16′ sizes for the A-193 Plow and 14′ and 16″ sizes for the AV-IQS Plow. They come in many styles suitable for stony soils, sticky soils or general purpose uses. The plow is regularly supplied with a 16“ plain rolling colter.
- Available as special equipment are combination rolling colters for better coverage of trash. Notched rolling colters are also available on special order. These are of particular vs no for cutting corn or cotton stalks for more efficient coverage.
- The combination jointer may be used on all styles of colters. Also supplied on special order for use in stony soils are the stationary jointers. These may be obtained with chilled or steel blades. Available on special order is the Power Lift Rockshaft and Link for the owner who may not already have these parts for use on some other machine.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ADJUSTING AND OPERATING:
LUBRICATION:
Use the pressure lubricating gun furnished with the tractor and keep all bearings and working parts well lubricated. Lubrication fittings are provided in the following places:
- Two straight fittings. . . . .in colter hubs. . . . .Inbricate daily.
- Two straight fittings. . . . .in rockshaft bearings .Lubricate daily.
GENERAL:
Before starting to plow. be sure the bolts which secure the bottom to the bees are absolutely tight. All bolts and set screws must be kept perfectly tight and all cotters spread to keep them from falling out. When setting up or remounting the plow: see that all Joints work freely – and that the parts do not bind. when rpising the plow. raise it slowly and watch closely to see that it is so adjusted that no part strikes the tractor before cospieting the full stroke.
REMOVE THE VARNISH BEFORE STARTING:
Bottoms, rolling colters and other parts of implements finished with a high polish are varnished before leaving the factory to prevent rust. Good work cannot be accomplished until the varnish is removed.
VARNISH REMOVER:
The recommended method is to use a regular, prepared varnish remover which can be obtained from almost any store handling a line of paints.
CONCENTRATED LYE:
- Another method is to obtain ordinary concentrated lye and mix it with water, making the liquid strong enough to remove the var- nish. One small can of ordinary lye to one quart of water will be sufficient to remove the varnish from one bottom.
- The lye may be applied by cloth or waste attached on the end of a stick. After applying the lye, let it stand for a few minutes, and if necessary’repeat the operation. CAUTIOIi Lye is poisonous and should be kept away free the face. hands or clothing.
- The middlebuster should be used immediately to prevent the finisued sur- faces from rusting. ‘ Whichever method is followed, be sure that all the varnisn is removed before attempting to operate the middlebuster.
